ACWUA signs the (Operations & Maintenance Training Project) MOU with USAID

 

Within the steps of providing a regional forum to introduce and encourage the development of certification programs thoughout the Arab Region, Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA) signed an MOU with Chemonics International on behalf of the USAID Operation and Maintenance Training Project (OMT) on 13th December 2011.

ACWUA through The OMT Training Project aims to develop and certify high-skilled and high-qualified workers who will contribute to improving their organizations and utilities performance in the areas of operations, maintenance and utility management.

The OMT Training Project aims to enhance worker and organizational performance of Arab Water Utilties based on need-to-know job requirements and criteria, to develop a competent staff through a regulated certification process and creating and serving regional demand for operation and maintenance training services on a commercially sustainable basis.

ACWUA will be working as the focal point for Arab Countries; in marketing and conducting the operator certification program on an institutional framework; in order to achieve one of ACWUA's main missions in: developing resources, facilitating training programs, and advocating for professional certification to enable member utility staff to perform their duties in a professional, reliable and cost-effective manner.

ACWUA will be the regional partner for Chemonics Internatiomal and both will cooperate to implement and develop a sustainable and long-term training project through a regulated certification process based on an institutional framework and legal mandate in Arab Countries.
